Psalm 71:20 – You have made me endure many terrible troubles. You restore me to life again. You bring me back from the depths of the earth.
I just like it. I’m touched by this.
Huh. Psalms 71 starts with “never let me be put to shame” and ends with “those who wanted my downfall are put to shame.” Which prompts a thought I never considered: these Psalms weren’t necessarily written in a day or after the fact. David probably started writing, stopped. Came back several times and finished the Psalm after the situation was resolved.
Psalm 74:9 – We no longer see miraculous signs. There are no prophets anymore. No one knows how long this will last.
Sometimes I feel like this is now. Where are the miraculous signs? Not just the million little miracles and then I wonder would we believe if we did see them? Or will we chalk it up to TV magic?
Psalm 78:18 – They deliberately tested God by demanding the food they craved
There is a right way and a wrong way to test Yahweh (he does after all say, Prove him). This was the wrong way. But it stems from the heart. Is it humble in its asking? Or arrogant?
Psalm 78:25 – Humans ate the bread of the mighty ones, and God sent them plenty of food.
Sooooo. The Israelites was eating the food of the angels. Always wondered if angels needed food.
Psalm 80:3 – O God, restore us and smile on us so that we may be saved.
(Singing) God has smiled on me. He has set me free. God has smiled on me. He’s been good to me.
Psalm 80. Gonna call it, the “Smiling Chapter.”
