Yahweh, thank you for a new day. Thank you, thank you for helping me sleep, I don’t seem to take as long as I used to, to fall asleep anymore. I am so happy about that. Thank you for who you are and who you have become in my life. Thank you for your grace and mercy. You are so good and all the glory belongs to you. You, without a doubt, deserve the honour and the praise for all that you have done for me but most importantly for who you are. It’s a new day where I get to choose who to honour. You made this day so I will honour you. Let the words that I speak be acceptable to you, help me that whoever I come and contact with today will feel your presence. I am Your vessel.
An idea came to me last night. I pray for the resources to accomplish it. I pray that people would know that you love them. Thank you, I love you.
2 Corinthians 1: 3,4 – 3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and the God of all comfort, 4 who comforts and encourages us in every trouble so that we will be able to comfort and encourage those who are in any kind of trouble, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.
CONFESSION: Mom woke me up with an issue with her computer that nothing I was attempting to do was fixing. There is a realisation that Yahweh even answers prayers when you haven’t even verbalised or internalised the request. I was groaning inside, “I don’t know what to do” and the Spirit whispered, “Except restart the computer.” So I did. All the missing files, everything came back (so did the electricity 2 seconds ago). Yahweh, I am sorry for not praying first, but I am thankful for your guidance.
COMFORTER
COMMENTARY: “All comfort” from the Greek word is “paraklesis”. This is not just soothing sympathy, it gives the idea of strengthening, of helping and of making strong. He is the God of all comfort. When he sent the comforter, it wasn’t just about soothing. The comforter is full of comfort (as we see it in English), strength and help.
Comfort – a state of physical ease and freedom from pain or constraint.
Paraklesis – calling near (especially for help), importation, exhortation, consolation, instructive.
The “Comforter” is such an abbreviation of what the original word means in its entirety. He is our strength. Our helper, our consolation, our guide, our instructor. When we are “comforted” (all of the above), it also enables us to do the same for others.
The unfortunate truth in this, is that not everyone would seek the comforter for themselves and if you are always comforting others without replenishing from the spirit, you will run dry. So we have to consistently go back and get more. When the disciples were feeding the 5,000 plus, Jesus gave to them piece by piece and they gave to the multitude and they had to keep going back to Jesus for more. It is a cyclical relationship. Jesus didn’t give them all at once and every time they went back there was enough.
Yahweh, thank you for being all that you are to us. More than we think it comforter is. You are enough for us and sometimes even the word enough, isn’t enough to adequately express what you are.
Yahweh, curb my enthusiasm. I’m excited about the plans you have for me. I come in agreement with you and I don’t want to run ahead of you. Help me to be patient in all things and to trust you in all things.
CONFESSION: I’m upset at the moment. Arrangements were made for a driver and another person for a site visit. No driver (he still home). No second person (they forgot). Sigh. I know that things happen but I wish people were a bit more aware.
