This morning I had a very practical example of why we need to prepare properly. Not all preparation is the same. Mom baked last night and the usual is that I wash in the morning. The sink was filled with wares. Well packed. But before I could even start to wash, I had to unpack the wares. Even though everything was “prepared” for me to just wash, it wasn’t prepared in such a way to allow me to just wash without preparing again. All the plates were at the bottom. Big items were on top. Had to take out those first. It made me realise that the way we prepare for the next step in our lives is just as important.
What I Wish
I wish people will stop saying that “God has never let me down.” It’s not true. What is true is that he has never failed. It is true that all his promises will come to pass. But a “let down” is based on expectations. We expected Yahweh to step in and nothing changed. We expected that we would not get evicted from our home. We expected and it didn’t happen. It’s a let down. We fall, but he will pick us up. He doesn’t fail. He never will. But in our expectations we may fall. I didn’t expect to go through months of unpaid bills. It was a let down based on my expectations, but Yahweh didn’t fail. He was preparing me for a new season. It’s okay to admit being let down. But it’s even better to believe again. To hope again. To trust that even in the let down, Yahweh is still there.
