1 Timothy 1:9 – For example, a person must realize that those laws are not intended for people who have God’s approval. Laws are intended for lawbreakers and rebels, for ungodly people and sinners, for those who think nothing is holy or sacred, for those who kill their fathers, their mothers, or other people.
This happens because of relationship or lack of relationship with Yahweh. When we have a relationship with Yahweh, he leads us. He is our light. So we know where he wants us to be. We are corrected when we go wrong and blessed when we do right. Though “blessed” is not the right word. I do think we are still blessed even when we went wrong once there is that good relationship because the correction is a blessing and he is still providing for us etc.
1 Timothy 1:19 – Some have refused to let their faith guide their conscience and their faith has been destroyed like a wrecked ship.
Refused to let their faith. Yahweh speaks to us about the way we move, what we say, think etc. But faith is about trusting Yahweh. And when we don’t allow Yahweh to guide, we are letting go of our faith.
1 Timothy 5:20 – Reprimand those leaders who sin. Do it in front of everyone so that the other leaders will also be afraid.
Sigh. I don’t think this would go over well in this current world (probably didn’t then either). Too often though, leaders don’t even want to be corrected in private, much less in public. It’s not meant to be done in a harsh manner, nor in a way to ridicule or demean them. Probably why people don’t want to be corrected. It’s the way it is being done.
