1 Kings 18:35 – The water flowed around the altar, and even the trench was filled with water.
So this is my totally unspiritual question. Where did they get the water from? They were in a drought! And on top of a hill. Did they talk up and down the hill how many times to fill the jars? I know it’s not unto salvation, but I am curious.
1 Kings 18:40 – Elijah told them, “Seize the prophets of Baal. Don’t let any of them escape.” The people seized them, and Elijah took them to the Kishon River and slaughtered them there.
Now I know that there are prophets today, but when I consider what prophets were required to do back in the day. It boggles the mind and he wasn’t arrested. Elijah had to kill 450 people. God had to have given him strength and stamina because I can guarantee they did not stand docilely waiting to be killed. Especially since he said, “Don’t let any escape.”
I am thankful though that Yahweh has changed his methods in time because me ain’t able go to jail and the world does not operate the same way as then.
1 Kings 20:11 – The king of Israel answered, “The saying goes, ‘Don’t brag about a victory before you have even dressed for battle.’ ”
The realisation that Ahab wasn’t stupid (clearly) but stubborn. He knew the ways of Yahweh. He knew about the advice from Jedidiah (Lol, just felt like using Solomon’s “God-given” name). But he chose not to listen.
1 Kings 20:22 – Then the prophet came to the king of Israel and said, “Reinforce your army. Consider what you have to do. When spring comes, the king of Aram will attack again.”
This is how amazing Yahweh is. Ahab was considered a wicked king and yet he was saved in these battles. Yahweh sent a prophet to speak with him.
