What a week that just passed! Thank you for waking me up, thank you for rest. Thank you for you. Good morning. Thank you for all that you’ve done for me, for this family. You’ve been faithful even when we haven’t been.
This year has been most interesting and what is weird it’s not that I’m doing anything out of the ordinary. It’s the usual work, church, home, gym. But it also feels like there is rarely a dull moment. What I’ve discovered? I like spending time with you. Thank you for being with me, for your promise that you will never leave me. It’s weird in a way, but I don’t make promises. Not the way you do. I always remember the scripture that says don’t swear an oath at all – not by heaven (it’s your throne), or by earth (it’s your footstool). I’ve heard people swear on their “so and so” grave. But I honestly take promises so seriously that I never make them. And I’ve had so many broken promises around me. I guess there will come a time when I will have to make at least one promise. And when that time comes, Imma ask you to step in. Because you make promises and you keep them. No matter what is going on. No matter how far fetched it looks, you keep your promises. Lol. I guess you promised to keep your promises.
1 Corinthians 1: 9 – God faithfully keeps his promises. He called you to be partners with his son Jesus Christ our Lord.
You have always been faithful. You invented the word and it’s only because of you why we can even attempt to be faithful. It is partnering with you that we are able to accomplish anything.
Deuteronomy 7:9 – Keep in mind that the Lord your God is (the only) God. He is a faithful God, who keeps his promises and is merciful to thousands of generations of those who love him and obey his commandments.
It’s interesting the wording used in the original translation. It’s not “he is a faithful God,” but it’s “He is THE Faithful.” That isn’t even the opportunity for another “god” to be faithful. Faithfulness originated from him and it continues through him. To generations upon generations, he is The Faithful.
Faithful: Steadfast in affection or allegiance. Firm in adherence to promises or in observance of duty.
Faithful (Biblical): The firmness or constancy of God. (In scripture it also speaks about the faithfulness of a person).
But the reality is our faithfulness is not unto us but unto you. We cannot be faithful without your faithfulness first. It is in you, we move and have our being (btw, I love this scripture. It gives me the feels). Thank you for your constancy, your consistency, your presence in my life. Thank you for being willing to make promises and for keeping them. Thank you for being The Faithful.

CONFESSION: Numbers appeal to me. I am NOT a mathematician though, won’t even pretend to be. Closing the Bible app, I saw where it said the streak was 111. Immediately my mind went to 3 in 1. (Lol, 3 – 1’s). There are three ones that add up to three. But they are each their own one. That’s God right there. The Father. The Son. The Spirit. Three in One. But each their own.
