Sometimes when I sit and think about what you have done and what you brought me through, I just have to smile. When I think about your promises I want to cry. For so long, I truly felt that you had abandoned me, that you truly didn’t care about me, that you looked out for your “special” people. The BIG NAMES, while the rest of us (like me) had to figure it out however we could. And honestly I didn’t always feel that way, though in hindsight, I’m realising that your timing for me is vastly different from most around me. When others were finishing university, I was now starting. While I had jobs (part time, odd jobs etc), my first “real” tax paying job was at thirty. Thirty!! That’s not the norm for most law abiding, right thinking people. But that’s what happened for me. Probably should have been the second sign that the timing you have for me wouldn’t be the same as for many others. But I didn’t take the hint, instead I grew despondent and tired. And depressed.
But I am thankful that you didn’t leave me there. Thank you for chasing after me. Thank you for bringing me out. Thank you for showing me that you love me (or maybe thank you for opening my eyes to see how much you love me). Thank you for renewing my purpose and showing me avenues that I have never even considered. Thank you for the amazing you. Thank you for you.
There’s this song by Jermaine Dolly- “You” that just came to mind. Now the song does start off by saying that he’s never down – I can’t say that’s me all the time, but I can say this!!
“You’re the reason why I smile. You pick me up when I am low
That’s what you get when you’re His child
There’s so much that I can say About the man I’m referring to
Jesus, Jesus, Jesus, Jesus, All the praise belong to You”
TODAY’S THANKFUL TALLY
Everytime Yahweh, everytime. I see you moving. I see you leading and putting the pieces together. Bringing communities together. To worship you. To honour you. To love you. Thank you for moving. Thank you for a safe community. You are in the midst to bless and to strengthen. To grow and to provide. I pray for Thea. What will you have me do? Show me your will. Thank you for your leading and I pray that in all things we would be open to hearing you. To sharing with you honestly. Not for show. Honestly. Let our hearts be in tune. Making sweet melody or a joyful noise to you. Thank you.
- Your impeccable timing (that we don’t always understand in the moment).
- A community of worshippers.
- The call to pray and fast as a community.
- Your healing throughout eternity
