Honestly, it is the most amazing thought. To you and back. You are simultaneously in me, around me and at the other end of the cosmos. That you desire to have a relationship with us is incredible. And it does make me wonder though. Why? How is it that you, THE God, THE Faithful. THE name above all names desire relationship? And it’s such an integral desire that in addition to yourselves you created others so that you can have relationships.
And not robots (or the cosmic equivalent of such). Because even the angels have choice. They chose to honour you or do their own thing (still shocking to think of angels bound because of them abandoning their assigned place – Jude 6). And that brings me to the grand question or two of today.
- Did you create us because you got lonely in some way?
- What was so special in us that you had to create us? And by extension go to such lengths to restore us to you?
I’ve often wondered why Lucifer wasn’t also restored, but then I realised that even though there are men who likened themselves as God, the original sin wasn’t actually one of “pride” where Eve was convinced that she knew more than you. The sin was wanting to know as much as you and that’s probably why we still could be saved. But it’s still amazing that in your omniscience, you still created us. Many times, you’ve proven how much you know. Everything and yet you made us – knowing that we would mess up. And I just had an epiphany. Yes, you were lonely as a man, but you weren’t lonely as God (that’s not the epiphany). You created us because of you. Your capacity to love. With everything you created, you love. And nothing has truly stretched your capacity to love (and truly still haven’t), but laws show the magnitude (in context), how far we have fallen. And what you are doing is actually to show others some context of how much you love. Without something to measure it by there is no true understanding and there would have always been the idea that maybe your love does not cover everything. That maybe your love has a limit. But you created us. You love us without limit and by giving us choice knowing that we would choose wrong, you were able to show the vastness of your love for us – context. A measuring stick that has proven to be too short to actually measure your love. And honestly the scripture is just not coming to mind. Help. Thank you.
Romans 7:7 – What should we say, then? Are the laws in Moses’ Teachings sinful? That’s unthinkable! In fact, I wouldn’t have recognized sin if those laws hadn’t shown it to me. For example, I wouldn’t have known that some desires are sinful if Moses’ Teachings hadn’t said, “Never have wrong desires.”
Romans 5:20 – The laws in Moses’ Teachings were added to increase the failure. But where sin increased, God’s kindness increased even more.
We would not have understood how deep your love us. Not even your angels would have understood. The other worlds would not have understood. There would have always been that question: does he really love that much? Maybe with the next creation we will see how much he doesn’t love – the short end of the stick. But you created us for a purpose – to show that your capacity to love truly cannot be measured. I guess you can say you created the human race for a purpose. Lol. Thank you for showing us – the cosmos – your love. The way it truly can’t be measured first thank you for accepting our love as tiny as it is in comparison, but still means the world to you. Thank you for dying for us, for rising for us. Thank you for who you are.
To quote Cory Asbury, “Oh the overwhelming, never-ending reckless love of God.” Thank you.
We will spend eternity trying to explain your love and we will never be able to. This is one time that I will happily give up. I surrender.
