Sometimes you just have to smile – after church this evening one of the youths in church asked me if I could give him a ride home. I smiled and said nope, expecting that he would know that I was joking. He said, okay and started to walk away. I called him back and asked him, “Have I ever left you stranded anywhere?” He shook his head, “No, Miss.” “So why do you think I would leave you stranded today?” He laughed and said, “Maybe I’m gullible?” We both laughed, but it had me thinking on the way home about how we often perceive Yahweh. Disclaimer, I am not Yahweh, not even pretending to be. But I’ve never left any of the youths at church without dropping them home myself or ensuring that someone takes them, but yet he felt that this time I would. It’s like that with Yahweh at times. He has never let us down, left us stranded, but somehow we think that this time he would. This time he wouldn’t forgive us even if we asked. This time. But Yahweh is saying, this time, I will love you still. This time I will forgive you still (yes there may be discipline, but he will forgive). This time and every time.Â
TODAY’S THANKFUL TALLY
- Yahweh being the same all the time.Â
- An improved/different perspective of Yahweh.
- Unpredictable routine -lol.
Thank you Yahweh. You are constant, yet unpredictable. We know that you save us and protect us – that never changes, but the how? You delight in surprising us. Thank you for making me smile and still surprising me. I love you.Â
