Thou shalt always compliment thy significant other. It wouldn’t matter their “love language” a compliment goes far. Song of Songs starts off with pure compliments and continues.

Song of Songs 2:1 – I am a rose of Sharon, a lily growing in the valleys.

They also looked at what was favourable about themselves. And it was echoed, reinforced and elevated by the significant other.

Song of Songs 2:2 – Like a lily among thorns, so is my true love among the young women.

Song of Songs 3:2 – I will get up now and roam around the city, in the streets, and in the squares. I will look for the one I love. I looked for him but did not find him.

We are taught that the men are the “hunters.” They go searching. Kinda based on the scripture, “He who finds a wife…” But in most other parts of the Bible, it’s not the man hunting (horrible word truly). He leaves his father and mother absolutely, but I’m getting the sense that the bulk of it is somehow on the woman and Yahweh. Mainly Yahweh. When Yahweh made Eve, Adam was sleeping. Ruth came to Boaz, Boaz was sleeping. Rebekah came to Isaac. Zipporah came to Moses. Esther was presented to the king. This is not to say that the man just sits there for a parade of women to pass because he does have things to do. But the role of the wife is much more than we like to preach.

Song of Songs 5:16 – His mouth is sweet in every way. Everything about him is desirable! This is my beloved, and this is my friend, young women of Jerusalem.

If anyone tells you that friendship is not important in a romantic (or any) relationship, they lying.

Song of Songs 7:11 – Come, my beloved. Let’s go into the field. Let’s spend the night among the henna flowers.

They spent a lot of time outdoors it seems (straight face). But what is obvious: they had common interests that they used to highlight what they liked about each other.
