Today was a discussion type of day. We were sharing experiences about our relationship with Yahweh and the truth is, many churches teach behaviour modification, not relationship. It paints Yahweh in such a horrible light that people run from him. Relationship over religion any day. Or rather as scripture says:
James 1:27 – Pure, unstained religion, according to God our Father, is to take care of orphans and widows when they suffer and to remain uncorrupted by this world.
And this at heart is about relationship. I’m also still working on removing personal biases that have been instilled in me that is in no way Biblical. Yahweh, help me to see your people as yours. No matter what they look like or wear.
CONFESSION: I don’t remember the names of all the people that I deal with for work. Why? Because it’s a lot. Now I may quicker remember the situation, but the name? Not likely. The thing is, if I’m calling an organisation for something, I speak as though they have no clue what I’m about and explain the situation every time. But so many times, people will call me and speak as though I will remember their specific name. Blank stare. No. I don’t. What was the situation? Usually once they say what it is/was, I can recollect. But if I don’t yet remember book, chapter, verse, how am I remembering a million names? Though I’ve gotten better with remembering where scripture is taken from, so there is hope for me yet. Lol. Don’t hold me to that though.
I just remembered something the young lady said this afternoon: that I move like an alpha woman. I’m like, okay, but (she continued) in a relationship, the man is supposed to lead. I started to laugh, because of course if the man isn’t willing to lead, then I won’t be in that relationship. Then I related an experience with a guy I briefly dated some years ago where I told him that the man is the lead. He looked at me in shock, “But you’re a ‘Boss Lady! You don’t want to be in charge of the relationship?!’” No. No, I do not. I may be a boss, boss lady at work, but work is not my personal relationship and Yahweh designed the relationship for the man to be the head. I think he’s still in shock.
