Most times (I think), I try to study a verse in context, usually reading before and after. But yet I feel like I’ve never read this one verse. I know the scriptures before it, I know the scriptures after it, how could I not know this?
Isaiah 55:10, 11 – Rain and snow come down from the sky. They do not go back again until they water the earth. They make it sprout and go so that it produces seed for farmers and food for people to eat. My word which come from my mouth is like the rain and snow. It will not come back to me without results. It will accomplish whatever I want and achieve whatever I send it to do.
There is no going back. I know that Yahweh’s word would not return empty, but seeing the process and the impact before makes me truly think. When Yahweh has given you a word, I promise (or words) he waters it. They are the stages of growth, from seed to tree. These stages take time and the bigger the tree the more time it takes. But not just that, it’s seed for the farmers. It allows others to do their work: but they are called to do it. And it feeds others – we never know how far it goes.Â
There are some trees that are perpetual. You come back constantly for new food, but it’s the same tree. Others provide nourishment for a short while and then have to be replaced (like wheat). But they all are food for us. In the seasons of our lives Yahweh’s words can be for a short time or for a lifetime. But it won’t return to him void once we:Â
Isaiah 55: 6,7 – Seek the Lord while he may be found. Call on him while he is near. Let wicked people abandon their ways. Let evil people abandon their thoughts. Let them return to the Lord, and he will show compassion to them. Let them return to our God, because he will freely forgive them.
We need to turn/return to him. Simple as that and allow him to heal us.
The blessing is on the other side of obedience. I had to go back and check my journal entry from last week to make sure. I keep getting this word. Yahweh, I pray for your guidance. If there’s something that I’m doing that is out of alignment with what you are calling me to do, please reveal. Please forgive me. I desire to be obedient to your call, even without the blessing. I’m not saying no ehhh. But even if you said it’s not what I expect, Yahweh, I want to be obedient to you. Thank you for your word in my life. I am your servant.
