Jude 6 – He held angels for judgment on the great day. They were held in darkness, bound by eternal chains. These are the angels who didn’t keep their position of authority but abandoned their assigned place.

First up, this does not sound like the angels cast down with Satan. Second, they abandoned their assigned place. There was somewhere they were supposed to be. Which means either someone was hurt or unprotected or (most likely) another angel was dispatched in their place. What prompted them to leave? What was so tempting?

Many scholars propose that it was a sin similar to what Sodom and Gomorrah did because they were mentioned after. But we know that Yahweh is not unjust. So whatever they did, was grievous in his sight.

Jude 23,24 – Save others by snatching them from the fire of hell. Show mercy to others, even though you are afraid that you might be stained by their sinful lives. God can guard you so that you don’t fall and so that you can be full of joy as you stand in his glorious presence without fault.

Even if we think they would cause us to sin, show mercy. I want to believe that the joy in not just because we stand without fault, but by the grace of Yahweh, the one who was shown mercy is standing there too.
