Job 38:1 – Then the Lord answered Job out of the storm.
Elihu in the previous chapter says for Job and friends to listen to Yahweh’s voice in the storm (Job 37:2) though he was speaking of the thunder, but then Yahweh’s voice actually comes out of the storm. How cool was that?
Job 39:1 – Do you know the time when the mountain goats give birth? Do you watch the does when they are in labor?
We often use the scripture, “consider the lilies of the field” when speaking about Yahweh’s care for all of us. But what I like about it here, Yahweh is correcting Job and showing how much he cares for everything on this earth at the same time.
Job 40:15 – Look at Behemoth, which I made along with you. It eats grass as cattle do.
Do I taste a hint of sarcasm here? Sometimes I have to smile at the range of emotions that Yahweh expresses.
Job 41:5 – Can you play with it like a bird or keep it on a leash for your girls?
I must confess: this gave me a visual of Yahweh actually having fun with leviathan (sea creature). And in a way it shows the compassion of Yahweh. That our emotions are good.
