Proverbs 16:27-29 – Idle hands are the devil’s workshop. Idle lips are his mouthpiece. An evil man sows strife; gossip separates the best of friends. Wickedness loves company and lead others into sin.
I grew up hearing part of this scripture (the very first part) and I must say that Yahweh’s words have proven true again. Almost (because there are always exceptions), everyone who is in the middle of constant bacchanal. Who is always cussing someone out. Who envies others. Most of them do nothing or nothing much. How you will tell me that your job is three hours everyday (weekday) and that’s all you do? You don’t have a hobby, you don’t have a skill. You don’t even clean your own yard!! And there is always confusion. You are always arguing. You are on the road and watching the next person’s car. You are watching the next person’s house. But what are you choosing to do with the time Yahweh has given to you? If we allow our time to waste, we are literally handing victory to the devil. But a hobby as simple as reading, can change your life. It opens new worlds and new thoughts. A skill/hobby encourages you to explore more. You want to improve.
But hear this – it makes little sense to envy the person who works, saves and is able to acquire the “comforts” of life, if we’re not willing to also work. Sadly though, sense is not as common as it should be. Sigh.
Ecclesiastes 9:10 – Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might; for there is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom in the grave, whither thou goest.
This is something that I also grew up with. Do whatever you have to do, the best you can. The sad thing about this statement? It applies to both good and evil. Good people would do the best they can and do good. The same goes for evil people. They let themselves become the devil’s playground and then doing that with all their might.
Yahweh, I do sometimes wish that evil on this earth would end today, but I do know that that won’t happen until you return. Until then, help us to choose to honour you. And those who choose to do evil? They are in your hands.
Today the trainer abandoned me!! Tears! Well, not exactly. The guy hadn’t come yet and the woman had to get something. Was me alone until the gym owner came, so I just did my thing.
