A co-worker says to me, “I find you looking real good these days. Congratulations to the man.” Straight face. But it had me thinking why do folks always attribute when someone “looks good” to the presence of a significant other in their life? It is not possible that they can just look good? That being said, I actually look good because of the presence of someone in my life. He’s been my friend. Confidante. Saviour. Friend. Mentor. The phrase that came to mind is, “God looks good on you.” Lol, turns out there is a song by that name:
“It’s not your hair. It’s not your clothes.
It’s not your shoes, it’s not even you.
God looks good on you.”
And that’s the truth right there. Yahweh makes us look good. Not for us to “look good” but for his glory. Think about it though: if all Christians looked like a slump, bad attitude (admittedly there are plenty with bad attitudes), would anyone truly want to imitate Christ? We would wonder why would we want anything to do with someone who has his followers looking that way. We ought to live in such a way that Yahweh is glorified.
Matthew 5:16 – In the same way let your light shine in front of people. Then they will see the good that you do and praise your Father in heaven.
