Daniel 6:24 – The king ordered those men who had brought charges against Daniel to be brought to him. They, their wives, and their children were thrown into the lions’ den. Before they reached the bottom of the den, the lions attacked them and crushed all their bones.

The man is the covering. The man is the head. Their decisions affect the entire household: the wives and children suffered the consequences of what the head had done. So often we underestimate the role of the priest of the home.

Daniel 9:18 – Open your ears and listen, my God. Open your eyes and look at our ruins and at the city called by your name. We are not requesting this from you because we are righteous, but because you are very compassionate.

What Yahweh does is not because of us, even if we do everything “right,” but because of his love for us.

Daniel 11:26 –  People who eat the king’s rich food will ruin him. His army will be overwhelmed, and many will die in battle.

Those who sit at his table. Those who are close to him. They betrayed him. When we put our trust in man and not in Yahweh, those around us can succeed in doing us harm. But Yahweh also prepares a table. He invites us to eat at his table instead of preparing our own and being betrayed. When we sit at his table, there is no betrayal that can harm us.

Daniel 12:13 – But go on until the end. You will rest, and you will rise for your inheritance at the end of time.

This actually gives me the warm fuzzies. Daniel will continue until he dies. He will remain in Yahweh. He will rest and he will rise to receive his reward.
