Thank you for today. It was a good day. Lol. Yep, I said good. I am alive, my parents alive. We healthy. So we good. Dad invited a young Pastor for dinner this evening. He was quite personable – but then he is a pastor. He’s all excited about getting married in a couple months. I had to smile and I pray for the best.
TODAY’S THANKFUL TALLY
- Getting schooled. Lol. Seeing things from a different perspective.
- Saw some leg muscles in motion. Vastus lateralis to be specific (and yes I looked it up).
- The provision of Yahweh.
SIDEBAR: Lol, writing the provision of… Made me think of what we call provision here. And it’s funny “provision” has recently been elevated due to such things as the Blue Food Festival and the Cassava Company, but it is a wonderful example of how Yahweh’s provision works. Provision in some shape or form can be found everywhere and anywhere. Dasheen: wet, soggy areas. Cassava: dry(ish) to stony soil (probably any soil except soaking wet). Tannia, plantain, green banana. Well don’t talk about bananas. Bananas everywhere. And that’s how it is with Yahweh. His provision is everywhere. He may ask you to dig for it or cut a tree for it, but it is there. Which actually also shows that yes he provides, but he also asks for us to partner with him. His provision is there, but we have to let it. Reach out and pick. Reach down and dig. Available.
It’s funny, ( I realise that I have certain word combinations that I say a lot – It’s funny. No lie. Honestly. Lol. I wonder why?) Anywho, I went looking for provide/provision in scripture. (I am so thankful that I live in an age where scripture is easily searchable) and a verse jumped out at me. It was my first time seeing it.
Proverbs 18:20 – A man’s belly shall be satisfied with the fruit of his mouth and with the increase of his lips shall be filled.Â
The funny thing is, I know the verse after it so well, but this one was just unknown to me. But a couple things that stood out were: This can go either way. A person earns a living by what they say. And when you think of “conversation” as behaviour it doubly applies. So even before the talk shop on YouTube (lol), Yahweh said. But the other thought was that what we say is so important. Your words can either fill you with good or evil. Love or hate. And the more it is spoken the more you/we are filled with it. So when the scripture goes on to say:
Proverbs 18:21 – Death and life are in the power of the tongue and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.
Is some serious truth (well the Bible is always true, but you know what I mean). What happens when you are filled with hate because of the words spoken? If you don’t believe scripture, then think about science. It shows that anger, hate, resentment kills the body. It breaks the spirit and wears down the soul. But if love? The body and soul flourishes.
And lastly, don’t get vex when a pastor or whoever earns their living from their words. It’s right there, they should. But in all things search out their words to ensure its alignment with the word.
It’s way later than my usual bedtime. We dropped the Pastor home. Yahweh, I pray for my thoughts (if any) to be of you. I love you.
