1 Peter 2:6 – That is why Scripture says, “I am laying a chosen and precious cornerstone in Zion, and the person who believes in him will never be ashamed.”

This is not a new thought, but it is still a true thought. Jesus took our shame so that we would never be ashamed. The ruler of this universe took our punishment. This is why so many find it hard to believe in him. For many of us, we wouldn’t even want to bear any major discomfort for a friend, much less for someone we didn’t like. And while Yahweh is our friend, we should not humanise him too much because he is also God. A God who desires to save us. God whose thoughts are not like ours. But who understands us completely.

Do you have any idea how much your words to me have helped? They have been an encouragement. A heater. A comfort. You have been all those things to me. Thank you for who you have been in my life. Thank you for your love. I love you.

1 Peter 2:12 – Live decent lives among unbelievers. Then, although they ridicule you as if you were doing wrong while they are watching you do good things, they will praise God on the day he comes to help you.

Although, a guarantee that they would ridicule us. They will, a guarantee that they will praise Yahweh when he helps. The glory goes to him.

1 Peter 3:4 – Rather, beauty is something internal that can’t be destroyed. Beauty expresses itself in a gentle and quiet attitude which God considers precious.

As opposed to “Beauty is only skin deep.” When Yahweh says he looks at the heart, he truly means it. He made all of us. Some physically beautiful according to man’s standard, others not so much. But we often don’t have a choice in how we look (unless plastic surgery). we do have a choice in our attitude and behaviour. Let’s ensure it to what Yahweh requires of us.

1 Peter 5:9 – Be firm in the faith and resist him, knowing that other believers throughout the world are going through the same kind of suffering.

Take heart. Comparison is (usually) the thief of joy. But also misery loves company. Granted it’s not to say that we are miserable in what we are going through, but that there is comfort in someone else understanding. It strengthens us and many times because we know that someone else have overcome, there is the strength that also comes from knowing that.
